Joint Commission International (JCI)
The ABC Medical Center is the only private health institution in Mexico City to have received accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI). It is also the first and only private health care institution in the country to have received this accreditation simultaneously for both its campuses.
This recognition confirms ABC’s commitment to improved safety both in its clinical and support services, in order to ensure that patients receive the best care possible. This is in addition to the fact its medical staff—which includes top specialists in the field—and the human talent at ABC, are fully prepared and invested in the ongoing improvement of the level of services offered.
College of American Pathologists
The Laboratories Division of the ABC Medical Center meets the standards of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) with in the areas of human resources, equipment, facilities, analytical methodology and Information Technology.
Hospital Certification
The General Health Council has certified that the ABC Medical Center complies with established standards and requirements to offer the best possible care to its patients.
International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
The ABC Quality System has been certified in accordance with ISO-9001-2000 standards.
Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence
ABC Center for Nutrition, Obesity and Metabolic Disorders has received certification as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), the only center to date in Mexico to have been granted such recognition.
The Center of Excellence designation confirms that bariatric surgery is performed in the center according to the highest standards of healthcare quality and patient safety.
To qualify for this certification, healthcare facilities must demonstrate that their physicians have sufficient surgical training and experience to treat patients who require bariatric surgery and that they have appropriate facilities and equipment to perform surgery and to address any type of complications that may arise as a result of the patient’s illness or treatment.
The SRC conducts a comprehensive evaluation to ensure the center complies in each of the required components and the results of the evaluation are analyzed by a committee of expert professionals in the field who make the decision on the certifications.
About the Surgical Review Corporation
The Surgical Review Corporation is a non-profit corporation founded in 2004 by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) with the goal of advancing the safety, efficacy and efficiency of bariatric and metabolic surgical care around the world.
Awards and Recognitions
In 2008 ABC Medical Center won first place in the “Enrique Ruelas Barajas” Mexican Society for Quality Health Care Prize (SOMECASA) 2008, in honor of its continued improvement in medical care.
“Excellence in Medicine” Award
This award is an annual distinction granted to recognize the most distinguished members of the medical profession.
